Interviews
An interview is an important part of our academic and professional life. We face interviews at different stages such as school admissions, college placements, jobs, and even in the media. An interview is basically an interaction between two or more people where questions are asked for a specific purpose. It helps the interviewer understand the interviewee’s skills, personality, and suitability.

Types of Interview
There are different types of interviews depending on the purpose. Some common types of interviews are discussed below.

Job Interview
A job interview is the most common type of interview. It is conducted to select the right candidate for a job. The interviewer checks the candidate’s qualification, skills, experience, and confidence. At the same time, the candidate also learns about the company and job role.
Information Interview
An information interview is conducted to collect facts and details. In this type, the interviewer mostly asks questions and the interviewee answers them. Examples include doctor–patient interviews or teacher–student interactions.

Persuasive Interview
A persuasive interview is conducted to convince someone to accept an idea, product, or service. Sales interviews are a good example of this type. The interviewer explains the benefits and tries to influence the interviewee.

Exit Interview
An exit interview is conducted when an employee leaves an organization. The purpose is to understand why the employee is leaving and to get honest feedback about the organization.

Counselling Interview
Counselling interviews are conducted to help people who are facing personal or work-related problems. The interviewer listens carefully and tries to guide the interviewee in a positive way

Media interviews
Media Interviews are conducted by journalists to provide information to the public. Interviews of celebrities, business leaders, or politicians on TV or in newspapers are examples of media interviews.

Stages of Interview
An interview process usually has different stages. These stages help the organization choose the best candidate.

Resume Screening
In this stage, candidates are shortlisted based on their resume, qualifications, projects, and experience. A good resume increases the chance of getting selected.
Written or Aptitude Test
Many companies conduct written or online tests to check logical thinking, technical knowledge, and communication skills.

Group Discussion
Group discussion is used to check communication skills, leadership quality, confidence, and teamwork. Candidates are given a topic and asked to discuss it in a group.
Personal Interview
This is the main stage of the interview. It can be face-to-face or online. The interviewer asks questions related to education, skills, and career goals.

Final Selection and Negotiation
After selection, salary, job role, and benefits are discussed between the company and the candidate.

Medical Test
Some companies ask candidates to undergo a medical test to ensure they are fit for the job.

Conclusion
Interviews are an important part of life and career. Knowing the types of interviews and stages of interview helps students prepare better and face interviews with confidence. Good communication skills, proper preparation, and positive attitude are very important to succeed in an interview.
